Seref Sagiroglu was born in Antalya, Turkey. He received his diploma in Electronic Engineering from Erciyes University, Turkey, in 1987. He completed his Ph.D. degree at Cardiff University, UK. He became an assistant professor, an associate professor and a full professor in 1996, 2000 and 2007, respectively.
He has published more than 300 papers in different subjects including computer, electrical and electronic engineering especially on the topics: Internet and Information Systems and Applications, Secure Software Development, Steganography, Information and Computer Security, Electronic Signatures and Public Key Infrastructure, Mobile Electronic Signature, Spyware, Cyber Security, Critical Infrastructure Security, Social Networking and Security, IPv6, Decision Support System, Software Engineering, Personal and Enterprise Information Security and its Standards, Big data Analytics
More than 60 papers have been cited in SCI database of Thomson Reuters. His papers have received more than 3300 citations. His h-index and i10-index are 30 and 65, respectively. He published more than 20 books, has got 6 patents, and organises national and international conferences as chairs or co-chairs. He supervised many students in graduate and postgraduate levels. He is member of IEEE , ISACA, BGD, TBD and a member of IEEE Biometric Task Force. Recently, he has become the president of IPv6 Forum Turkey.
He is also founders and editors of first security journals in Turkey: International Journal of Information Security Science (www.ijiss.org) and Uluslararası Bilgi Güvenliği Mühendisliği Dergisi (www.dergipark.gov.tr/ubgmd).
Last ten years, he has been concentrated his studies on information and cyber security, biometrics and big data analytics.
